Requirements:

• Studies leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology.
• Knowledge of pharmacology.
• Skills in preparing and administering vaccines and medications through different routes.
• Animal handling and restraint.
• Ability to perform a basic evaluation, including vital signs.
• Sterilize instruments and prepare them for use.
• Prepare and induce the animal, monitor anesthesia, and oversee patient recovery.
• Assist the veterinarian during surgery.
• CPR – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Job Description:
• Assist in surgeries, diagnostic procedures, and treatments under veterinary supervision.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and fluids as directed by the veterinarian.
• Collect samples (blood, etc.) and prepare materials for laboratory analysis.
• Monitor vital signs and the general condition of patients during hospitalization.
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment: X-rays, laboratory equipment, etc.
• Maintain complete and up-to-date clinical records in the medical record system.
• Provide guidance and support to pet owners regarding at-home care and medical follow-up.

Requirements:
• Associate degree in Veterinary Technology.
• Minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital.
• Proficiency in anesthesia techniques, venipuncture, catheter placement, and use of medical equipment.
• Strong communication skills with pet owners and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.

Job Description: Are you a skilled and dedicated Veterinary Technician looking to make a significant impact on the lives of pets and their families? Animal Care Hospital in Caguas, Puerto Rico is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and compassionate Vet Tech to join our established and caring practice.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities):
The ideal candidate will be proficient in all aspects of veterinary technical care, including:
• Patient Care: Providing advanced nursing care, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, fluids, and blood products.
• Anesthesia & Surgery: Preparing animals and equipment for aseptic surgery, administering, monitoring, and recovering patients under anesthesia.
• Diagnostics: Performing venipuncture, collecting and preparing laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces), performing in-house lab tests (e.g., urinalysis, blood counts), and taking high-quality radiographs.
• Assisting Veterinarians: Assisting doctors during physical exams, treatments, dental procedures, and emergency procedures.
• Client Education: Clearly and compassionately communicating with pet owners regarding patient status, aftercare instructions, medication administration, and preventative health.
• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and detailed electronic medical records.
• Hospital Maintenance: Ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of treatment, surgery, and kennel areas.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in a clinic or hospital setting is required.
• Technical Skills: Proven proficiency in all core veterinary technician duties listed above.
• Compassion & Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to handle animals with care and patience, and to communicate effectively with clients and team members in Spanish and English (highly preferred).
• Team Player: Ability to work efficiently, prioritize tasks, and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
