Membresía
Active Member
All veterinarians admitted to practice their profession in Puerto Rico by the Puerto Rico Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, in accordance with the provisions of Law 194 of August 4, 1979, Law 7 of July 10, 1986, and their corresponding regulations, as amended, shall be Active Members of CMVPR.
Active Member- Non Resident
An individual may be classified as a Non-Resident Active Member if they reside outside of Puerto Rico and request reclassification through a sworn statement, provided they are not residing in or practicing the profession in Puerto Rico.
Affiliate Member
An Affiliate Member may be any veterinarian who holds a provisional license to practice veterinary medicine in Puerto Rico, is ethically practicing the profession in any U.S. state or other country, is a bona fide member of a recognized veterinary medical organization, or is duly qualified and awaiting the licensing examination in Puerto Rico, and who submits a formal request to the Board of Directors. Affiliate Members will be issued a certification to that effect and may receive invitations to events, publications, and communications from the Association that the Board deems appropriate or suitable. With the exception of individuals holding a provisional license, and subject to the limitations of that license, Affiliate Members may not practice professionally in Puerto Rico under this membership category. Affiliate Members must pay the annual membership fee; failure to do so will result in disaffiliation. This membership category does not apply to individuals who are licensed to practice in Puerto Rico.
Change Affiliate Member to Active Member
Once the licensing exam has been passed and the license to practice veterinary medicine in Puerto Rico has been obtained, the Affiliate Member shall request a change to Active Member by submitting evidence to the CMVPR.
Lifetime Member
Any active member of CMVPR who has fully complied with the Associations regulatory provisions, who has surpassed the age of 70, and who has been a member of the Puerto Rico Veterinary Medical Association (AMVPR) and/or the CMVPR for 40 years—whether or not they are currently practicing—or anyone who, due to a health condition, is unable to practice and requests to obtain the category of Lifetime Member, shall be considered as such. A Lifetime Member shall enjoy all the rights and privileges of an Active Member and shall be exempt from payment of regular dues, convention registration fees, and continuing education fees, but will be required to pay any special fees imposed for social, cultural, or other types of activities. As a special provision upon the initiation of the CMVPR functions, Lifetime Member status shall be granted to any veterinarian who already held that status within the membership of the Puerto Rico Veterinary Medical Association (AMVPR), the predecessor of the CMVPR.
A Lifetime Member whose license has been revoked by the Puerto Rico Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners shall become an Inactive Lifetime Member, while retaining all prerogatives, rights, and privileges inherent within the framework of the CMVPR.
